Five birthday candles (hold up five fingers)
Wish there were more
Blow one out (blow quickly)
Then there are four

Four birthday candles
Pretty as can be
Blow one out (blow quickly)
Then there are three

Three birthday candles
Mother bought them new
Blow one out (blow quickly)
Then there are two

Two birthday candles
Birthday cakes are fun
Blow one out (blow quickly)
Then there was one

One birthday candle
A birthday wish in fun
Blow it out (blow slowly)
Then there are none

Ribbons
We had never used the ribbon wands before so first I had the children draw three simple shapes so we could practice not hitting our friends with the sticks.

Using Leaves are Twirling - From Fall Leaves by Sunflower Storytime

Ribbons are swirling, ribbons are twirling
All around, all around
They are falling spinning slowly, very very slowly
To the ground, to the ground

Ribbons are swirling, ribbons are twirling
All around, all around
They are falling spinning quickly, very very quickly
To the ground, to the ground

Hands and Fingers Here and There from Preschool Work Out; Fitness for 4's and 5's -  I think the song might have been too fast for my kids to catch on to.  I am going to look for more ribbon songs to supplement this tune.

Closing
We Clap Our Hands Like This - Tune Farmer in the Dell. Borrowed from Opening/Closing Songs on Storytime Katie who borrowed it from Rhymes for Toddlers on Sunflower Storytime.

We clap our hands like this
We clap out hands like this
We clap our hands with all of our friends
We clap our hands like this.

We blow a kiss like this
We blow a kiss like this
We blow a kiss with all of our friends
We blow a kiss like this.

We wave goodbye like this.
We wave goodbye like this.
We wave goodbye with all our friends.
We wave goodbye like this.

Craft
Using our flower pot ellison punch and some scrapbook paper, I made cupcake papers for our craft. The children could paste the papers on their construction paper. Then they could color in their cupcakes and add shredded paper as frosting or sprinkles.
