Hibernation Song from King County Library System.

The weathers getting cold, so bundle up, bundle up, , bundle up
The weathers getting cold so bundle up, winters coming soon

  • The bears in the cave they sleep all day
  • The squirrels in the trees gather all the nuts
  • The frogs and the toads hop deep in the mud
  • The ducks and the geese they fly down south
  • The people in the town wear hats and gloves

Bells

Bread and Butter Storytime Chant from Jbrary's Just Add Rhythm Sticks
I edited the lyrics slightly to work with my hand bells.

Bread and butter
Marmalade and Jam
Let's tap our sticks as quiet as we can

...loud as we can
...slow as we can
...fast as we can
...high as we can
...low as we can
...nice as we can

Scarves
Popcorn Song (tune of Frere Jacques, so sing each line twice) from Jbrary

Popcorn Kernels (wave scarves overhead)
In the pot (make their scarves 'disappear' by bunching them up in their fists)
Shake them shake them shake them (shake)
'til they POP (Toss scarves up into the air)

Five Little Snowmen

Flannel Board

The snowman pattern is from Button Snowman.
Five little snowmen riding on the sled
One fell off and bumped his head
I called Frosty and Frosty said
"No more snowmen, riding on that sled!"
Four little snowmen... etc
Closing
We Clap Our Hands Like This - tune farmer in the dell. Borrowed from Opening/Closing Songs on Storytime Katie who borrowed it from Rhymes for Toddlers on Sunflower Storytime.

We clap our hands like this
We clap out hands like this
We clap our hands with all of our friends
We clap our hands like this.

We blow a kiss like this
We blow a kiss like this
We blow a kiss with all of our friends
We blow a kiss like this.

We wave goodbye like this.
We wave goodbye like this.
We wave goodbye with all our friends.
We wave goodbye like this.

Penguin Craft

  1. It most certainly is time for a Winter-themed storytime. Love the snowmen on the sled.
