Little Red Box - Dr. Jean Sings Silly Songs
This song was so short that even though I had it on cd we just sang along together. To my surprise several of the children knew the tune already. The song was so well liked that we continued to sing it while adding other things we loved like our siblings and pets, also chickens. :)

I wish I had a little red box
To put my mommy in.
I'd take her out and go,
Kiss, kiss, kiss, (Kiss in air.)
And put her back again.

Daddy: Hug, hug, hug. (Hug self.)
Good Friends: "How do you do?" (Shake hands).

Reindeers are Better Than People Felt Board

Howdy
I admit I have never seen the movie Frozen.  But we are doing a Frozen Family Storytime so I got to learn all about it.  Guess who my favorite character is?  Sven, the reindeer of course. Here is a felt board story I wrote about Sven that was inspired by Kristoff's song Reindeers are Better Than People.  For your felt board you will need Sven, a Olaf's carrot nose, Anna's hair ribbon, Elsa's glove and Kristoff's boot.

Reindeers Are Better Than People

Everyone in Arendelle was busy getting ready for winter. Sven had finished gathering food and now he was bored.  He went to see if anyone would play with him but all his friends were too busy. Sven went outside to play by himself when a strong wind began to blow. Suddenly an orange carrot landed in Sven’s antlers. And there it stuck. Ouch he yelped. He shook his head hoping it would fall off but no, the carrot was still there. Oh Dear. How could he go back home looking so silly with a carrot caught in his antlers?
Sven kept walking when a gust of wind blew a ribbon into his antlers. And there it stuck.  Ouch he yelped. Sven jumped up and down trying to shake out the ribbon and the carrot but they were still there.  Oh Dear. How could he go back home looking so silly with a ribbon and carrot caught in his antlers?
Sven kept walking when a gust of wind blew a glove into his antlers. And there it stuck.  Ouch he yelped. Sven ran in a circle trying to shake out the glove, ribbon and the carrot but they were still there.  Oh Dear. How could he go back home looking so silly with a glove and a ribbon and carrot caught in his antlers?
Sven kept walking when a gust of wind blew a boot into his antlers. And there it stuck.  Ouch he yelped. Sven rubbed his antlers on a tree trying to shake out the boot, glove, ribbon and the carrot but they were still there.  Oh Dear. How could he go back home looking so silly with a boot, and a glove and a ribbon and carrot caught in his antlers?
Finally Sven decided that he needed help.  He went back to Arendelle where he met Olaf.  Ohh you brought my nose, thank you Sven.  Together they walked on until they met Anna. Ohh you bought my hair ribbon, thank you Sven.  Together they walked on until they met Elsa.  Ooh you brought my glove, thank you Sven.  The four friends walked until they met Hans who exclaimed oh you brought my boot.  Really Reindeers are better than people.

The end

Do you have it on your sleeve?
Yes, I have it on my sleeve.

On your sleeve?
On my sleeve.

Ra-vi-o-li…

(repeat with other body parts or articles of clothing, e.g. Do you have it on your chin? Do you have it in your shoes? etc.)

Felt Board

Stop, Slow, Go and Jump.
I call this Stop, Slow, Go and Jump Around.  I explain what red, yellow and green mean. Then we try not clapping, soft clapping and loud clapping.  Next I add the blue circle.  In the picture it looks green too but in real life its true blue. Blue means jump or whatever silliness you choose. We played this with toe tapping, need slapping and head patting.

Scarves
Borrowed from Scarf Songs and Rhymes for Storytime on Jbrary.

One Bright scarf - (adapted from 10 Little Fingers at Storytime Rocks)

One bright scarf waiting for the wind to blow (hold in hand)
Wiggle it high (wiggle scarf above head)
Wiggle it low (wiggle scarf by knees)
Shake it fast (wiggle scarf quickly)
Shake it slow (wiggle scarf slowly)
Put it behind your back
Where did it go? (bring out empty hands)

Jack in the box sits so still
